Senior/Principal Engineer - EASL

Expertise required

We are looking to hire engineers with a minimum of 7+ years’ experience with a similar background and/or transferable skills (only applications matching this criteria will be considered). You will hold a good honours degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline, many in our team also hold PHDs or Masters. We also require a very competent understanding of key engineering principles and relevant, hands-on experience in the design, analysis and assessment of components, structures and systems.

You should be a highly motivated, technically accomplished and ingenious solutions finder with the drive and commitment to handle technical and commercial responsibility for a wide range of projects.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and motivate others are also a must-have. You will also be accountable for contract management for key clients and motivating and managing other team members.

Role and responsibilities

  • Responsible for project management and delivery, complying with clients’ specifications and working alongside your team leader to ensure cost, time and performance indicators are met.
  • Maintain compliance with Engineering Standards and applicable legislation.
  • Continuous communication, liaison and cooperation with clients, providing regular updates on progress and performance.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of data and information received from clients.
  • Ensuring the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act are understood and complied with.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the Team Leader align objectives and ensure that every project is delivered on time and on budget.
  • Maintain and promote strong work ethics and discipline.
  • Ensure a consistent approach towards project management and reporting towards our clients.
  • Promote collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Skills / Qualifications Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree qualified or equivalent (e.g., HNC/HND with significant experience) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience and/or transferable skills. Demonstrable experience in the nuclear industry would be a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of modelling and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of FEA and computer-aided engineering software such as ABAQUS is beneficial.
  • Detailed knowledge of national and international codes, specifications and standards.
  • Development of designs against Safety Case requirements and Engineering Design.
